Cape Town Highlanders Pipe Band Concert - 8 December 2012

Post date: Nov 27, 2012 11:35:8 AM

The Drums and Pipes of the Cape Town Highlanders invite you to an evening of all things Scottish, with a twist of South African. Join them at Bergvliet High School Hall on 8 December 2012 at 19h00 for ‘Scotland the Brave’, which is guaranteed to delight an audience of all ages.

You’ll hear a number of the pipe-band’s favourites, including Black Bear, The Gael (theme tune from ‘Last of the Mohicans’) and, perhaps one of the most beautiful tunes ever written for bagpipes, Highland Cathedral.

With their cheeky, eclectic style of playing, you may also be treated to a few surprising tunes you’d never expect to be played on bagpipes.

But that’s not all – the band will also be joined by talented drummer, Kyle Sanders of Wolftown, along with a string quartet of rising classical musicians led by Hannah Peacoke and the vocal talent of Rosie Bruce, accompanied by her father Cameron on guitar and many others!

For a visual break the dancers of Celtic Dance Tapestry, will perform both Highland and Irish dancing, which is sure to have you dancing in your seat! You’ll be wowed by brilliantly choreographed dances, including Irish hard-shoe that was made famous by ‘Riverdance’.

Tickets sales are hotting up and are available at R35 for children, R40 for pensioners and R50 for adults.

While there may be a few available at the door on the night, don’t wait until the last minute (and risk missing out) – book your tickets today!
